Afghan Skipper Appointed as Etisalat New Brand Ambassador

Kabul – 2 November 2022

Etisalat signed Hashmatullah Shahidi, Afghanistan`s national cricket team skipper, as its new brand ambassador. The agreement between Etisalat and the cricket star was signed at Etisalat`s main office building in Kabul on 2 November 2022.

 ‘Hashmatullah Shahidi is a young and energetic cricketer who is brilliant both on the cricket pitch and in his social life. His hard work and dedication has inspired the young generation to be positive and follow their dreams.’ said Mohamed Osman, Etisalat Afghanistan CEO.

The left-handed batter who is also the current captain of Afghanistan men`s national team in Test and ODI formats will feature in a series of campaigns for Etisalat`s brand positioning and product promotions that will run on TV, print, and online platforms.

Speaking during the contract signing ceremony, Hashmatullah Shahidi said ‘I am glad to partner with Etisalat and become a member of their huge family.’ Shahidi added ‘Etisalat`s contribution to the development of the telecom sector in Afghanistan has placed the company as the number one network of choice for Afghans and I am delighted to join them in their mission.’

During its operation in Afghanistan, Etisalat has supported the country in different areas. Youth empowerment is one of the areas where Etisalat has been focusing through its sponsorship of sports and other educational programs. Etisalat has been a pioneer in promoting the game of cricket in Afghanistan. The company has been the official sponsor of Afghanistan`s national cricket team and has signed two other renowned Afghan cricketers, Mohammad Nabi and Hamid Hassan, as its previous brand ambassadors.
