Etisalat mHawala Partners with Afghan United Bank

Kabul – 3rd September 2014

Etsialat Afghanistan signed a partnership agreement with Afghan United Bank to enhance its mHawala services. The aim is to implement a state of the art mobile salary payment project, also known as the salary payment for GIRoA, through which government employees will receive their salary in their mobile phones via their mHawala accounts.

Salary transfer to mobile phones will allow government employees with no access to banks and living in remote areas to carry out their monetary transactions at any authorized Etisalat or mHawala franchise across Afghanistan.

In addition, the project focuses on facilitating mHawala registered customers with services like; transferring money from mHawala account to AUB account and vice versa, withdraw or deposit money and inquiry of their AUB accounts from a mobile phone and without going to the bank.

‘Our partnership with AUB is a joint effort to ensure that our valued customers have access to world class mobile banking services and to allow them carry out their daily monetary transactions more efficiently and securely from the comfort of their homes.’ said Yasser Aboul Amayem, CCO, Etisalat Afghanistan.

mHawala which is another innovative service from Etisalat, currently offers mobile money and branchless banking services through its mobile platform and agent network in Afghanistan; services include: cash-in and cash-out, person-to-person transfers, airtime top-up, balance inquiry, and electricity bill payment transactions.
