Etisalat Afghanistan launches Hunt for Stars Cricket Program

Kabul, February 29, 2012:Etisalat Afghanistan, official mobile partner of Afghanistan Cricket today announced the launch of Hunt for Stars, finding new Cricket talent program in Jalalabad.

This nationwide program is being launched in association with Afghanistan Cricket Board and is aimed at finding new talent from various parts of the country. A selection committee comprising of Nawroz Mangal, Captain Afghanistan Cricket Team and Raees Ahmad Zai, Chief Selector Afghanistan Cricket Board officiated the trials organized at ACB Cricket Academy, Siraj-ul- Imarat Park, Jalalabad City. This innovative program shall give a chance to talented individuals to show their talent and catch the attention of Afghanistan Cricket authorities through these open trials.

The program launched in Jalalabad witnessed a large number of cricket enthusiasts and young talent exhibiting their skills in front of National team stars and selection committee. The selected individuals shall be nurtured and groomed further by professional training facilities in Afghanistan Cricket Academy in Jalalabad and Kabul. The program is being launched under the name of “Etisalat Afghanistan Hunt for Stars in collaboration with ACB”. This opportunity shall provide the young talent to emulate the feats of Afghan cricket legends Hamid Hassan and Nawroz Mangal.

Speaking on the launching ceremony, Nasimullah Danish, CEO Afghanistan Cricket Board said, “We appreciate the efforts of Etisalat in the development of Cricket in Afghanistan and this program shall go a long way in realizing our dream to go to every nook and corner of the country and help us in finding and nurturing new talent to serve Afghanistan Cricket in future.”

“Cricket has unified our nation in unprecedented manner. It is bringing happiness and joy to our people”, stated further by CEO Afghanistan Cricket Board.

Yasser Aboul Amayem, Chief Commercial Officer, Etisalat Afghanistan while commenting on the launch of Hunt for Stars Cricket program said, “We stand committed to promote Sports and healthy activities in the country and proud of our valued partnership with Afghanistan Cricket Board in supporting cricket at the grass root levels. As officials partners of Cricket in Afghanistan; we are delighted to deliver on our promise to create a nationwide talent hunt program for unleashing new talent which gives a chance to active youth in Afghanistan to become future stars and heroes.”

Nawroz Mangal, Captain of National cricket team and Raees Ahmadzai briefed the participants about this program and gave expert tips to participants representing Jalalabad, Kunar, Khost, Laghman provinces.
