Etisalat Afghanistan 4th Annual Holy Quran Awards concludes in Kabul

Kabul, July 13, 2011: Etisalat Afghanistan has today announced the conclusion of 4th Annual Holy Quran Awards being held in Kabul. The competition which started on June 30th is organized by Etisalat Afghanistan for the fourth year running in collaboration with Ministry of Religious Affairs & Hajj and Ministry of Information & Culture, Government of Afghanistan.
The final ceremony was attended by distinguished personalities, representative of UAE Embassy, high ranking government officials and members of media fraternity.

Qari Abdul Wahid from Nangarhar Province was declared the winner of this year’s competition.

Qari Barkatullah Saleem was the Chief Judge along with panel members comprising of representatives of Ministry of Religious Affairs & Hajj, Qari Amanullah Ahmadi, Qari Abdul Azim, Qari Zaiul Haq Minqad, and Dr. Abdul Qodus. Qaris under the age of 21 participated in this competition from all over Afghanistan.

Mr. Abdul Hakeem Muneeb, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and Hajj while speaking on the occasion said, “It is my honor to participate in today`s ceremony, we all know that Quran is the only guide for humanity and we need to continuously refer to it and take the advantages. On behalf of the Ministry of Religious Affairs & Hajj and the people of Afghanistan, I would like to thank Etisalat Afghanistan for its valuable services and support in promoting Islamic traditions in Afghanistan. Organizing such events is vital for the development of young generations` talent and guiding them toward success. Once again I would like to thank Etisalat Afghanistan for the generous support and ask them for their continuous help with the people of Afghanistan.”

Mr. Mobarez Rashidi, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture said, “It should be mentioned that our society is seriously influenced by foreign cultures and the need is felt to take it out of this situation and promote our valuable Islamic culture and traditions. Conducting Quran contest is an important initiative from Etisalat Afghanistan and helps us in promoting Islamic culture in our society. Using this opportunity, I would also like to appreciate this action of Etisalat and wish them more success in future.”
Qari Abul Wahid, the winner of Etisalat Afghanistan 4th Annual Holy Quran Awards was awarded cash prize of US$ 6000. Qari Abdul Wahid will now be representing Afghanistan in Dubai International Holy Quran Award which will be held in the upcoming month of Ramadan. Cash prizes of US$ 4000 and US$ 2000 were given to the runner ups, Qari Zaifullah and Qari Israrul Haq for securing second and third position in the competition.
